Unplug either wire at the tank and the gauge goes full right past full. You need to find where the tan wire unplugs from the rear trunk harness. I disconnected the tan wire from the sender - nothing. Well, as someone who ended up having to drop their tank 4 times thanks to restoration parts, I would say if you can troubleshoot without dropping the tank, by all means
