OTOH, I have the 32 bit version on my laptop, it had no problems. My Lenovo ThinkPad running Linux Mint 32-bit 17 Cinnamon has sound out of the box…. Your first alternative even deleted my desktop-manager Cinnamon.

This problem went away as soon as I fixed the sound so I assume the sound issue must have been crashing the media playback in general. Reason: forgot the "ps". Might be the flash player: UPDATE: I was wrong...chromium wont work either...so, that cant be an alternative solution either. have a peek here i tried these methods.

Ive upgraded to the new Google Chrome Beta and still no sound. Scrolling through the options with the left/right arrow keys I found automute was enabled, so simply disabled it and presto!
